Weekly green tips at Green52.org

Improving the environment, one week at a time…

Focus on Sustainability

without comments

Our sincere hope is that the concepts of sustainability, sustainable resources, and sustainable practices in our lives that help reduce our environmental impact will all be advanced by this site. Simply put, we want to engage our visitors in sustainable thinking — making small changes to improve the environment while shifting default habits from “consume, throw away and replace”, to “reduce, reuse, and recycle”. This effort toward sustainable thinking is a joint effort between Green52.org and SustainableThinking.org. With 52 weekly tips for green living at this site, sustainability just got a lot easier!

Green52.org focuses on simple green living tips and ideas to improve your awareness about the environment. We try to emphasize the concept of simple changes and things everyone can do to minimize their impact on the environment. Efforts toward sustainability and sustainable resources can also include ideas and solutions that are not as simple, or which are not explained in detail in our weekly tips. Many of these efforts involve focusing on the development, support, or utilization of alternative energy forms and renewable resources such as wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, and more.

Whether you want to call it green living, sustainable thinking, being an eco-conscious citizen, or simply being responsible about your impact on the environment, now is the time to take active efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Even more importantly, now is the time to learn about combining those time-honored practices with considering sustainable resources and choosing to focus on sustainable living.

We urge you to encourage others to think through these issues as well, and to discuss them. Green52.org, and our other sites such as SustainableThinking.org and the Sustainable Thinking blog at SustainRenew.org provide an incredible platform to do just that – learn about ways to reduce our impact on the environment and help others to advance the dialogue.

For those of you who have an interest in green living, sustainability, or increasing your awareness about environmental issues, we’d encourage you to spend more time researching and considering the issues of sustainability and sustainable energy resources. Wind energy and wind power is becoming more widely understood and utilized, although it clearly has not made its way into discussions at most social events or around the dinner table. The same can be said for geothermal energy, solar energy, and other energy sources that are a viable and renewable alternative energy form to the fossil fuels we are currently dependent upon. Much information on these subjects can be found at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s site, here.

There are many sources for more information about these subjects. To get you started, we’d suggest taking a look at our sister-site, SustainableThinking.org. This is a simple and easy-to-review site that provides a broad overview of sustainable thinking and sustainability as a concept, and highlights more resources for information. Or, help turn this blog into a discussion group by telling your friends to visit Green52.org, and to visit this page on sustainability to leave a comment or offer ideas. We welcome new contributions to this discussion!
